Acer to launch Smartphones in Q2

World’s topmost notebook seller Acer has claimed that they will soon add Smartphone to its product range. Acer will launch the new wing of Smartphone recently acquired company E-Ten Information Systems. For this new product line Acer has decided to increase a staff to 500 which includes 200 employees from E-Ten’s R&D Division.

Company’s  Chairman, J T Wang has quoted that Acer’s new segment will show significant growth in Smartphone development with another 3-4 years which is likely to increase likewise notebook market which is expected to be 15-20% for the year 2009 despite of the massive market crashdown.

The officials confirmed that the new Smartphone will be manufactured by Acer & the Operating System used will be Windows OS. There are no price & specifications disclosed by the company however, The phone is likely to hit first in Western Europe & Russia first.
