AMD to go for netbooks with Conesus

  • Acc. to a roadmap revealed by AMD, they will be making some notebook processors with lower power consumption & high computing to take on to Intel Atom. AMD Conesus will be the AMD’s next gen. processor chip which will be targeted for mini & ultraportable notebook users.

AMD Conesus comes in single as well as dual core with 1MB or 512×2KB, support DDR2 memory & will be a 45nm process. This makes the chip pretty much close to Intel Atom. However, 45nm does helps saving some power but Intel Atom does beat it in terms of TDP whereas Conesus won’t be eating TDP more than 25W.

AMD is planing to launch Conesus in 2009 & Caspian core features 2MB Cache will be for mainstream notebooks along with 4 new cores named as Propus & Deneb for all streams. AMD Sr. Vice President, Randy Allen mentioned that AMD will not compromise on performance yet we will keep it green.
